Sellaband gives an opportunity for artists to raise capital with their fans. This model is a bit similar to what Neubauten used in their supporter project but put on a mass scale.
Unfortunately, the interface is not very good, plus artists do not seem to have easy control as to how exactly they would be financed.
The magical $50 000 number comes a bit from nowhere.
